There is no denying the importance of Internet Security when it comes to your home or company’s office computers and network. One of the easiest ways in which viruses spread is over a network connection. If a single computer in your office becomes infected by a computer virus, this computer virus can then spread from one computer to the next via the network connection. This can result in a great deal of damage and loss to your company With this in mind you must take serious note and concern when it comes to the anti-virus protection that you choose to install and put to use in your office. You cannot expect the normal computer software that came equipped with each computer in your office to get the job done; especially if your computer runs over a network. Therefore, you must seek out anti-virus software that is specifically designed for office computer and network connections. Anti-virus protection should also provide you with comprehensive security that should protect all types of endpoints on your system. If your anti-virus software fails to carry out these tasks then your entire network could be in jeopardy. In addition, your home offices anti-virus software should lower IT costs due to the decreased workload that will be placed on your IT department. Anti-virus Software for Back to School

Oct 30th, 2009 by riskstar

As parents, college students and kids alike prepare for the back-to-school season, there are plenty of things on everyone’s minds. While university enrollees prepare to throw down hundreds on college textbooks, younger students are getting their school supplies lists from new teachers. However, there is one item that should be on every new school year list: anti-virus software.

These days, most every student uses a computer for homework, research and we cannot forget about games and music downloads. Using a PC is nearly mandatory in anyone’s daily life in the 21st century, especially a student’s. For many college students, heading back to campus means connecting their wireless routers to the university network, which may pose a greater threat than the Web connection from the comfort of your home.

The Information Age has opened doors to countless benefits, but also pitfalls. More students are expected to email professors or teachers with file after attached file of book reports and research papers. What about online classes? Many college campuses require students to participate in Web portal classroom discussions and work critiques, which utilizes file sharing. Anti-virus software is a key component of any student’s desktop or notebook PC, mainly because of the high volume of downloads, emails and files that are sure to make their way into each and every computer. According to a consumer survey, about 78% of respondents intend to spend the most on school supplies, coming in over apparel and book bags. While school supplies used to mean folders, pens and post-it’s, items like anti-virus software are becoming the norm and the necessary. After all, the more you use a computer, the better your security and virus protection must be.

How To Avoid A Potentially Dangerous Computer Virus

Oct 27th, 2009 by riskstar

The fact is, virus coders are becoming more sophisticated every day. As computer users become more educated and anti virus software gets more effective, virus coders are always looking for ways to get past both internet users and anti virus software. This means that users need to remain ever vigilant to avoid becoming the victim of a potentially very harmful computer virus. It is important for every computer owner to know that not all viruses are the same. Some computer viruses are just annoying, generating popup ads as you browse the web, or increasing the amount of SPAM you receive. Other types of computer virus, however, can be more dangerous. Some computer viruses can wipe out a hard drive, or steal your personal information and files. To make matters worse, some computer viruses are able to hide in a computer for some time, activating at a future date and doing their damage when triggered by certain events or dates. Fortunately, computer owners do not have to be at the mercy of computer virus coders. There are a number of measures computer users can take to protect themselves from viruses, Trojan horses, adware, spyware and other malicious code on the internet. For starters, it is essential that all computer users install a good quality anti virus software program BEFORE their computer is connected to the internet. This is because there are programs that constantly search the internet, looking for computers that are unprotected by virus scanning software. A recent survey by a security organisation found that it takes only minutes for a computer to become infected with viruses and spyware. Installing an anti virus software program is vital to protecting yourself from these malicious programs. It is also important to update that anti virus software program on a regular basis. In the past, many computer security experts recommended doing updates on a weekly basis, but most agree that weekly updates are no longer sufficient. It is generally best to update the anti virus software you install daily, and to schedule those updates to run automatically. Running the updates automatically will ensure you do not forget to update the software, and running the updates daily will ensure that you are protected against the latest threats. Most users will want to schedule the updates to their virus scanning software to occur during the night, when they are asleep. Running these updates when the computer is not in use is a good idea for a number of reasons. For one thing, updating the anti virus software when the computer is not in use will ensure that there are no conflicts, and that the program is able to update itself to detect the latest computer virus. Running the updates after hours will also prevent the updates from interfering with web surfing or any other activity. Running a computer virus protection update can sometimes interfere with other software, so it is best to run it automatically, when you do not need the computer for other things. email lookup reverse

Anti Virus Protection – are You a Fool?

Oct 10th, 2009 by riskstar

When you work with a computer, doesn’t time flies? Let me guess, you’re probably on your computer about two or three hours every day. Am I right? Also, if you work on a computer at home or in some cramped cubicle, you may spend the majority of your day on a PC.

Now, I hope you’re being cautious for all the time you spend typing, surfing, downloading, reading, and sending. After all, the last thing you need is a Trojan horse or irremediable virus who will destroy your system.

Yes this can be a headache and a half. Not only can it damage your work, but it may also cost you your entire hard drive. That means all you have saved in the past; work, family photos, downloads, the whole shebang. It is pretty sure that you need some decent anti virus protection.

Last year I got hit hard. Not by a crazy shmoe in a smoky bar either. I mean at home in my own family room. That room where you believe you are safe and comfortable at all times. Sorry to say but when it comes to cyberspace, security has gone out the window. Or sometimes it look that way.

I was doing my usual web browsing. Just looking in the Internet for a few new desktops to grace my PC screen. Then unexpectedly it happened. My screen went blurry just as I downloaded a horror flick wallpaper.

What was the deal! I was certain I had excellent anti virus protection. How could I get smacked out of nowhere by a random computer virus? Well, a good thing, my laptop was not the same. I shut it down and tried to restart, but it wouldn’t comply.

I decided to see a specialist. He informed me that my system board was fried. OUCH. This was going to be costly; I could tell. He could not tell me if it was a virus when I asked him.

However, I pretty much know it was that darn horror movie wallpaper I tried to download. That is when it all started. 450 dollars later, I had a fixed computer. I went back online right away and downloaded the best free anti virus protection I was able to find. I keep on updating once every two weeks or so.

I hate that this is a never-ending story. Just as anti virus protection advances, the vicious viruses advance as well. Who in God’s name is creating this garbage and don’t they have something else to do? Just a heads up; your PC or Mac is at stake, so stay recent with your anti virus protection. This well known writer is an Internet expert and undoubtedly enjoys to share his information with readers like you.
