Computer Virus Removal – Updating Your Anti-Virus Definition

Nov 27th, 2009 by riskstar

A good anti-virus is crucial in order to protect your computer from online threats. However, even if you own the best anti-virus in the world, it is meaningless if you didn’t update the virus definition. Virus definition is used to detect viruses or what we called “virus signature”. By using this kind of detection,anti-virus software can detect a lot of viruses that have the same signature code. For example, let’s say there are two viruses. Virus A and Virus B. Both of these viruses are in the same family. Hence, both of them are using the same signature code inside their code. Therefore the anti-virus can detect both of them. You can say that this type of detection is more accurate than the heuristic analysis detection. Another type of detection used by anti-virus is called heuristics analysis. This type of detection however, sometimes will marked a non-virus file as one. So, it’s not that accurate. Heuristics analysis uses something like behavior monitoring and that means it monitors the suspected file behavior and see how it reacts or how it acts. There are two ways on how it monitors the suspected file. First of all, the anti-virus will check the file instruction and if the file instruction is to delete important file system, it will marked it as a threat. Secondly, heuristic detection will put the suspected file into a virtual environment and will see how it reacts. Updating your anti-virus definition is very important to ensure that you’re protected from the latest online threats. New viruses emerge everyday and therefore, your virus definition is your asset to fight them. Try to discipline yourself to update it every time new updates come out. There are some people who never update their virus definition from the first time they bought the software. So, choose to protect yourself, your PC and your privacy everyday. Computer & Virus

A Computer Virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without the permission or knowledge of the owner. A virus, unlike malware, adware, and spyware programs, can only be spread from one computer to another in some form of executable code. This can happen because a user sent the virus over a network or the Internet or carried it on a CD, DVD, or USB drive. Viruses may increase their spreading capability by infecting files on a file system that is accessed by another computer. Viruses can cause harm to a computer system’s data or functional performance. Computer virus creators seem to forget that real people are damaged by these creations. Because of the wasted amounts of time and money in destroying these viruses the legal system is getting much harsher in punishing these creators. It is very important to protect your computer from viruses and perform a virus removal if you do have one on your computer. You should use a very secure operating system or if you are using an unsecured one then you should buy virus protection software. Also, you should avoid programs from unknown sources and stick with commercial software. And you should never double-click on an e-mail attachment that contains an executable. If a virus has found its way to your computer then you know it is a frustrating ordeal. The viruses of today can be hazardous to your computer and can even steal your identity and wreck your credit rating, in addition to simply messing with other important things on your computer. You should always keep updated virus protection software and if you haven’t purchased any before, you will for sure after you have had the virus removed from your computer. First off you should try installing antivirus software if you haven’t already. This isn’t as good as already having it but it is a good first step if the computer has already been infected. You should also discontinue use of the computer and disconnect it from any network you may be one as you don’t want to risk transferring the virus to other computers or files on the network. Due to the increasingly complex codes that have developed in the past few years infections are involving more system elements than ever before. This means that it can be very difficult to remove these viruses and limit the amount of damage that the virus can do to your computer. You shouldn’t risk damaging your computer more if you don’t know how to remove the virus yourself. Although there will be a fee, it is best to call in the experts in order to protect your computer. Any specialist that performs the virus removal can also teach you how to protect your computer from viruses in the future. If you do have a virus on your computer you should call a trained computer specialist for Virus Removal at once. Geeks-in-Route Inc. now offers a Spyware & Virus Removal service.
